The Edo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has commenced the 2018 audit of public and private institutions.
The Acting Chairman of Edo SUBEB and Special Adviser to the Governor on Basic Education, Dr. Joan Osa Oviawe, who disclosed this yesterday, said the audit includes students as well teaching and non-teaching staff in basic education institutions.
She said the exercise was in line with the provisions of the UBE Act 2004, which mandates Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) to conduct at regular intervals, personnel audit of teaching and non-teaching staff, establish a basic education data bank, and conduct research on basic education in Nigeria.
Dr. Oviawe explained that the audit is to enable the agency obtain comprehensive and reliable data of children of school-going age enrolled in primary and junior secondary schools as well as existing administrative and management personnel in the category.
