The Emir of Wase in Plateau State, Alhaji Muhammad Sambo Haruna, has called on students of the University of Jos to emulate the virtues of late Sardauna of Sokoto, Sir Ahmadu Bello, if they intend to progress in their endeavours and become useful to themselves and the society in general.
Alh. Muhammad, who spoke at the maiden cultural event of Gamji Day organized by Gamji Memorial Club, University of Jos chapter, also urged the students to pursue peaceful coexistence and unity.
Represented by the Galadiman Wase, Mustapha Umar Mustapha, the emir explained that Ahmadu Bello, in whose honour the Gamji Memorial Club was established was a man of peace who helped all those who came to him irrespective of tribe, religion and other differences.
In his remarks, a former Minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung, said education has a role to play as far as empowering youths for national development is concerned.
He said rebuilding trust and fostering unity occurs when all members of the society join hands to make a balanced, harmonious, complete whole and to forgive one another the mistakes of the past.
