Students’ oratory amazes spectators at Capital Science Academy’s annual debate

Seven societal issues were topics of discussion at Capital Science Academy’s Annual Inter School Debate held in Abuja at the weekend.

10 schools including Premiere Academy, SASCON International School, Nigeria Tulip International College (NTIC), GSS Kuje, Al-noor Academy, Army Day School, Air force Girls, Royals school among others participated in the event.

At the end of the event, NTIC supporting the topic “All citizens who do not vote should pay a fine” emerged first, Air force Girls came second, while Army Day School came third.

Speaking, the principal of the host school, Mr. Stephen Robinson, said the event was organized to foster unity and cooperation among secondary schools in Abuja, using debating as a tool.

He said his school was focusing on developing the total child by exposing them to educational best practices.

The Vice Principal Academic of the school, Alhaji Bunuyaminu Yero, said the debate was one of the most anticipated academic events of the year because it gives students opportunities to express themselves in an artistic way.

The coordinator of the programme, Mr Ashaolu Ezekiel, commended the participating schools for creating time for the event even with the ongoing 1st term examinations.

Journalists and media personalities from radio and television stations served as judges.
