This was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of the meeting signed by the zonal chairman and zonal Islamic vacation course coordinator, Yusuf Yakubu Arrigasiyyu and Yusuf Saeed.
The meeting, which had in attendance, the Governor of Zamfara State Alhaji Abdul’Azeez Yari, the Sultan of Sokoto Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, the Emir of Zamfara Alhaji Attahiru Muhammad Ahmad, the Emirs of Tsafe, Talatan Mafara, Kaura Namoda, Mara-dun and Bungudu as well as renowned Islamic scholars from all parts of the country including the Secretary-General, Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), Dr. Khalid Abubakar Aliyu deliberated on issues affecting the Muslim Ummah.
“The government appears to be unwilling to overcome the security situation in the country, with the disturbing effect that the counter-insurgency being conducted outside the ambits of both human rights and humanitarian laws. The endemic corruption and impunity being promoted and supported by the present administration is worrisome. The Nigerian government’s machineries have gradually been Christianised with the marginalization of Muslims as can be seen in the massive recruitment of Christians into the military, paramilitary, ministries, departments and agencies as well as government appointments.
“The indiscriminate arrest and incarceration of innocent Muslim scholars and their followers in the name of ‘Boko Haram’ is disturbing. There is insufficient understanding of Islam as a complete way of life as propagated by the Sakkwato jihad scholars among Muslim youths due to the inadequacies of the existing Islamic studies curriculum taught in our schools.
“The decay in the moral attitudes of the youth who are the leaders of tomorrow has risen to an alarming dimension which portents a dangerous future for the ummah. Inadequate funding of the educational sector by the government has resulted in strikes and near collapse of the sector. The society frowns at the carefree attitude of WAEC and NABTEB of fixing examinations during Jumu’at prayer times.  Leadership is a trust from Allah (SWT) and selection of leaders should be based on merit as against the current practice, which is detrimental to the development of the nation”, the communiqué said.
