Student arraigned for killing policeman in Kwara

A 23-year-old student of the Kwara State Polytechnic, Babatunde Lekan, who knocked down a police inspector, Isaac Osayintuyi, has been remanded.

The police told the court that Lekan knocked down the policeman with his Toyota Camry on the Ilorin/Omu-Aran highway and ran away to remove his number plate and tinted leather on the windshield.

The prosecutor, Innocent Owoola, said, “The inspector was rushed to a private hospital in Omu-Aran but was later certified dead.

“Preliminary investigation led to the arrest of the defendant.”

The Magistrate, Usman Zainab, ordered Lakan’s remand and adjourned to July 18.
