The strike was called off through an announcement by Chairman, Nigerian Union of Teachers, Dare Ilekoya and Akeem Lasisi, Chairman, Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools of Nigeria.
The teachers had earlier called the strike over allegation that the state government failed to remit deductions meant for the cooperative society, as well as non payment of peculiar allowance.
Ilekoya said: “Government called us for discussions; we met and all our issues were looked into.”
He said government also agreed to pay the October deductions with immediate effect, while the remaining will be paid subsequently.
Ilekoya added that government will set up a committee to look into the matter and all other problems affecting teachers.
Our correspondent who visited some schools yesterday, observed that academic activities have commenced.
