Following the strike embarked upon by Organised Labour to press home their demand for a minimum wage, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has postponed the planned inauguration of the Edo State Gov’ship Election Campaign Council.
Hon. Debo Ologunagba, National Publicity Secretary of the party in a statement said the inauguration earlier slated for Tuesday had been postponed indefinitely.
The PDP spokesman charged all members of the campaign council, party leaders, critical stakeholders, members and supporters in Edo State and across the country to continue in their efforts towards the success of the party and governorship candidate, Dr Asue Ighodalo.
The Edo State governorship election has been slated for September 21, 2024 by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Part of the PDP statement read, “The National Working Committee (NWC) of our great party, the People’s Democratic Party, announces an indefinite postponement of the inauguration of the Edo State Governorship Election National Campaign Council earlier scheduled to be held on Tuesday, June 4, 2024.
“The postponement is due to the industrial action embarked upon by Labour Unions in the country.
“A new date for the inauguration will be communicated in due course,” he said.
