‘Stress, blood deficiency national health concerns’

Experts in the pharmaceutical industry have decried the prevalence of stress among Nigerians, saying it is a national health emergency that must be frontally addressed.

They said many people break down suddenly due to stress as it depresses the immune system, stressing the need for more blood in the body to boost energy and staying healthy.

The Chief Operating Officer, Sterling Biopharma Limited, Adebayo Adepoju noted that the nature of stress and fatigue that Nigerians encounter on a daily basis requires that their physical and mental well-being is well supported to function at its best.

He spoke during the introduction of a new product called Fejeron Blood Tonic into the Nigerian market to support the country’s about 66.8 per cent economically active population.

He said the Fejeron Blood Tonic has been uniquely formulated for everyone regardless of age or gender to fill the gap in blood deficiency and reduce the prevalence of stress among the upwardly mobile and active population.

According to statistics, more than 60 per cent of the active population are facing stress which often results in depression and mental health.

Adepoju reiterated that this remains a challenge for the country to protect the young ones and the active population from sudden death.

“So, Fejeron Blood Tonic is the latest proof of our commitment to this mission.

“When you have low blood level, it means that your oxygen saturation in the system would be very low, your Vitamin B blood would be very low.

“As such you are going to be very weak, your brain becomes very weak. Your skin colour would begin to change, you look pale.

“So you would not be able to do much and again you are going to have cardiovascular problems, inflammation in the arteries, among others.

“Having enough blood in the system has a lot of benefits. It is like the oil in your car engine. It is the blood that functions in a man that he can walk around. That is why it must be maintained as much as possible. When it is lower than it should be, the first thing you see is weakness. People falling down is as a result of the blood shortage.

“This is why from the moment we entered the Nigerian market, and with our wide range of products, we have made our intentions clear and that is to make quality pharmaceutical products affordable for all Nigerians.”

The Product Manager, Olumide Ogunremi, said extra effort has also been put in place to ensure that the product has less chances of causing the common side effects like metallic after-taste, staining of the teeth; constipation, diarrhoea, nausea and others.
