Strangers hold onto man for TWO HOURS to stop him jumping from bridge

This is the dramatic moment brave passers-by on Monday clung to a man near Golden Green, North London who threatened to jump from a bridge. The man was restrained by crowds and police officers who tied him up with rope to stop him from jumping. Once he had been secured, a fire engine used its hydraulic lift to lower him to safety and he was then put into an ambulance. A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police confirmed the man had been detained under the Mental Health Act.
