The Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) has condemned the crisis on the Mambilla Plateau in Sardauna Local Government Area of Taraba State.
In a statement yesterday by President of TUC, Bobboi Bala Kaigama and Musa-Lawal Ozidi, Secretary General, the congress expressed sadness that the peaceful co-existence that once existed among Nigerians was gradually fading out for reasons best known to those, who perpetrate dastardly acts.
The union said “The killings portray us in a bad light before the international community. Something drastic has to be done to put a stop to it, otherwise necessary development will elude us.
“It is only in the atmosphere of peace that you can talk of development. No investor invests in a crisis-ridden environment.”
The union condoled with the country’s Ambassador to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Alhaji Hassan Jika Ardo, who was reported to have lost over 40 relations and cows numbering over 500 to the crisis.
TUC said perpetrators of the violence should be brought to book, as it will speedy up the reconciliation process.
