Stop looting, arson, Oyo CP warns hoodlums

The Commissioner of Police in Oyo state, Joe Nwachukwu Enwonwu, yesterday, warned hoodlums to stop looting and burning public and private property, saying the command would not continue to watch while they destroy facilities.

Hoodlums had on Saturday morning invaded Agbeni market, where they ransacked, looted and razed15 shops in Agbeni Ologede market.

A source in the market told Daily Trust that the act was perpetrated by the hoodlums under the pretense of reprisal attack on a rival cult group, in the area.

The Director of Fire Service in Oyo State, Mr Moshood Adewuyi said his men, who went there to put out the fire, were also attacked by the hoodlums.

The police boss, in a statement by the state Police Public Relations officer (PPRO), Olugbemiga Fadeyi, condemned the co-ordinated attacks on police officer and mass destructions and looting of police facilities.

He said the state police command was battle ready to kick hoodlums out of the state.
