Stop inflicting pains on Kano citizens, Wali tells Gov Yusuf

The Kano State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the March 18 elections, Sadiq Aminu Wali, has advised the state governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, to stop inflicting pains on the people of the state in the name of demolition of “illegal structures.”

Speaking with newsmen in Kano yesterday, Wali said the current administration needs to understand the situation it is plunging businesses and businessmen into in the state.

The governor had, less than two weeks after assuming office, embarked on demolition of illegal structures in Kano, the state capital, reportedly worth billions of naira.

But Wali said, “Whoever is in Kano has seen the calamities happening, Kano being a business hub ever since the election was over has not been the same.

“On this issue of demolition, yes, every government has its own priorities and ways but despite that, what is happening is crippling businesses and businessmen in the state. The present administration needs to understand and thread with care.

It’s a ploy to destroy Ganduje’s legacies – APC support group

Similarly, an All Progressives Congress (APC) support group, the Progressive Foundational Movement, has said the demolition is a ploy to destroy the legacies of the immediate past governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

Spokesman of the group, Jamilu Sani, in a statement yesterday said, “It’s worrisome to see how people are losing their businesses in the name of demolition. How will you put people, your subjects, into this kind of misery because you hate your predecessor, Ganduje?

“Ganduje as the architect of modern Kano has done his best for the state. We are, however, calling on the elders of the state, particularly Governor Yusuf’s political leader and boss, former governor, Rabiu Musa kwankwaso, to call the governor to order before it is too late.

“We want to appeal to Governor Yusuf to focus on his mandate instead of embarking on the mission to destroy Ganduje’s huge footprint in Kano State.”
