Taraba State Commissioner for Economic Planning, Rebo Usman, and his information counterpart, Emmanuel Bello, told reporters, yesterday in Abuja, that it was unfair for Alhassan, who was made the first female senator in the state, to be employing underhand tactics, including sponsoring women protesters at INEC office, against the will of Taraba people.
Usman said: “It is unfortunate that she hired women who are not from Taraba State today (yesterday) to rally at INEC office. If there is any party that should come and feel aggrieved about the re-run, it should be PDP, which won the election. Yet, we have resolved not to complain because we are law abiding.
“The pronouncement of the collation officer will be challenged at the tribunal. As a party, we are not afraid to go back for a re-run. We hope that INEC will not listen to these women. If Buhari can lose an election in Taraba State and accepted defeat, who is A’isha Alhassan to force the people against their will?”
Bello said INEC should be wary of Prof. Abba Kyari who, he added, allegedly cancelled 152 polling units because of problems in five units, and accepted the results in other violent areas where the APC won.
“Many people in PDP voted for Buhari but because Taraba is a PDP State, Buhari lost. If you want to be a governor, it should not be on the basis of gender. She has been directing INEC to do all she wanted.”
