Environmental work has commenced in earnest on Karshi roads and other area councils with the planting of trees along the roads, the Coordinator of the FCT Satellite Towns Development Department (STDD), Ishaku Tanko Yamawo, has said.
The Public Relations Officer of the department, Meeme Felicia, in a statement, said the STDD coordinator has therefore called on all the people living in the satellite towns to keep their environment clean and not to dump waste on the roads.
Yamawo said charity begins at home “therefore we have started; palm trees along the roads are being planted and we are also clearing the edge of the roads from Nyanya to Karshi. We are also clearing the grasses and we are planting flowers in the middle of the road.”
Yamawo, in the statement, also said he has just concluded briefings with the various departments and heads of units in his organization where he told his staff that it’s only truth and honesty that will help the organization to grow and work better.
He said the minister of the FCT is looking up to them and therefore called on the staff to always be on their toes and concentrate on their job.
On their part, the STDD staff promised to redouble effort in the discharge of their duties.
