Stakeholders seek agency for housing deficit

Like the Single Treasury Account (TSA), a group of real estate developers have urged the federal government to create an agency to address the plights of real estate developers to tackle housing deficit and mortgage lapses.

The Executive Director of Pennek Nigeria Limited, Mr Kennedy Nnadi, made the plea at the official opening ceremony of an estate on Sunday in Abuja.

He noted that dealing with various government agencies during construction was a challenge, hence the need to have a streamlined process to simplify the procedures through a dedicated agency.

He said, “Similar to TSA, there should be a unified government agency overseeing construction-related matters for efficient decision-making.

“The government must support developers because a nation’s progress hinges on their contributions. While the government may conceive ideas, developers drive the vision and mission.

“With governmental support, including tax waivers, asset protection and overall encouragement, our business can thrive in Nigeria.”
