Stakeholders brainstorm on plastic recycling, green growth strategy

Stakeholders have taken a bold step towards finding sustainable solutions to the challenges plaguing the plastic sector.

They converged yesterday in Abuja at an Environmental and Economic Sustainability (EES) workshop, themed, “Strategic Partnerships for Durable Planet Solutions.”

The event was organized by Tearfund in partnership with Yola Renewal Foundation, TASTE, ACET Nigeria, Jos Green Centre and Norad.

Speaking, the Country Director of Tearfund, Joseph Aloo, said it is time to collaborate on national and global decision-making toward Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Also, represented by Program Director, Tearfund Nigeria, Bolanle Oyebola, said the workshop among others was organized to create a platform to showcase Tearfund’s milestones on EES through existing programmes being implemented in both Adamawa and Plateau states.

Senior Chemical Engineer, Pollution Control and Environmental Health, Ministry of Environment, Engr. Collins Alfred, said the ministry was keen on collaborating with private and public organizations in addressing environmental problems.

Governmental Alison Coordinator, Nigeria INGO Forum, Confidence Obayuwana, said: “Giving various partners incentive and push would enable them to carry out programmes as impactful as the workshop.”
