The president of Ratels Sports Development Foundation (RSDF) and proprietor of Naija Ratels FC, Barrister Paul Edeh, has joined the race for the position of Benue State Football Association chairman.

The leading supporter of female football in Nigeria who picked his nomination form a few days ago told football stakeholders in the state that his desire to become the next chairman of the association is based on his competence and commitment to grassroots football development.

The current sponsor of the state football league said “I’m not in the race to exploit the system but to make meaningful contributions. The incumbent is leaving behind good legacies which I want to maintain.

“I have come to serve and not to be served. I have come to collaborate with stakeholders to move football forward. My regular thoughts on how a progressive model should be is that football development should run from bottom to top.

“Benue from ages has budding talents in various communities and it’s our duty to fish them out. We will work with referees and coaches as well as others by organising refresher training, just as we encourage many to attend courses that will help them improve themselves in their chosen vocation and profession.

Responding on behalf of others, the chairman of Oju LGA football council, Raphael Adoga, said “In Barrister Edeh, we the chairmen from the 23 Local  Governments have found one who is capable of taking Benue football to greater heights.”

Meanwhile, a former Super Eagles assistant coach, Godwin Koko Uwua, has also indicated his interest in the position presently occupied by Hon. Margaret Icheen, a former Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly.
