Sports ministry to spend N20m on website upgrade

The Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development has budgeted to spend N20m on the upgrade of the ministry’s website, www.youthandsport.gov.ng.

This is part of the N181, 104,352,485 budget of the ministry as submitted by President Muhammadu Buhari to the National Assembly on October 8, 2020.

It will be recalled that Buhari had presented a N13.08 trillion with a crude oil benchmark price of $40 per barrel and daily oil production estimate of 1.86 million barrels (inclusive of condensates of 300,000 to 400,000 barrels per day).

The ministry has plans to spend N23m on wireless network, N60m for the rehabilitation of streetlight, panels and electrical works, N90m for the re-construction of 2nd training pitches at the MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja

In the same vein, the ministry plans to spend N50m on replacement of vandalized cables and connection to national grid, N60m for the rehabilitation of indoors sports hall, N50m for the replacement of blown off Main Bowl roof; N10m for the replacement of blown off roof portion of indoor sports hall as well as N30m for the regressing of the Main Bowl pitch of the Obafemi Awolowo stadium, Ibadan

The ministry has also budgeted to spend N65m for the sports hall of fame foundation of Nigeria as well as N357m for the completion of 6 mini sports centers nationwide.

Also, the ministry budgets to spend N50m on the supply of sporting kits and equipment to selected schools in Olamaboro, Kogi while N40m will be spent on the same project in selected secondary schools in Imo State.

The ministry also plans to spend N17m for the purchase of law books/e-library/case files, N5m for the purchase of staff identity card machines.
