The Chairman Special Olympics Nigeria Board of Directors, Victor Gbolade Osibodu made this commendation at a press briefing to announce the 2014 Special Olympics Nigeria National Games slated to hold at the University of Lagos Sports Complex, Akoka between August 10 and 13, 2014.
Osibodu, who was represented at the occasion by the board’s communications and publicity committee Chairman, Udeme Ufot, noted that the competition is designed to promote equality.
“Coca-Cola’s adoption of the Unified Soccer Initiative resonates with the 2014 National Games theme ‘Together We Can’, which aims to provide another level of challenge for higher ability athletes and promote equality and inclusion through the medium of sports”, said Mr. Osibodu. He described Coca-Cola as a “sponsor emeritus” of Special Olympics Nigeria and thanked the company for its steadfast support which has grown in scope over the years.
The 2014 Special Olympics Nigeria National Games will prepare 42 athletes to represent Nigeria at the 2015 Special Olympics World Summer Games which is slated to hold in Los Angeles, California in July.
