The outgoing and incoming governors of Katsina State, Aminu Bello Masari and Dr. Dikko Umar Radda respectively have endorsed the All Progressives Congress (APC) consensus candidate for the Speaker of the incoming 10th House of Representatives, Tajuddeen Abbas.
According to a statement, signed by Tajudeen Abbas Campaign Office on Monday, the APC consensus candidate was also endorsed by the former governor of Kebbi State, and serving senator for Kebbi Central, Muhammad Adamu Aliero.
It stated that the trio announced their endorsement of Abbas when they received him and members of the Joint Task-10th Assembly who visited them separately at their residences on Sunday night.
Joint Task-10th Assembly is a coalition of members from the eight political parties that have won seats in the 10th Assembly.
Speaking, the Katsina State governor, Aminu Bello Masari, who was a former speaker of the House, said as a loyal member of APC, he believed the party’s choice should be respected.
He advised Abbas and his team to work hard to realise the party’s decision.
The Katsina State’s governor-elect, Dikko Umar Radda said, they would ensure that the APC’s decision on zoning was implemented to the letter.
Aliero said he was impressed by Abbas’ credentials both in and outside the legislature and promised to mobilise PDP members-elect from Kebbi for Abbas.
Meanwhile, the North Central All Progressive Congress (APC) Forum has backed the party’s zoning arrangement.
Chairman of the forum, Alhaji Saleh Mandung Zazzaga, told journalists after an emergency meeting that there was nothing wrong for the South South and North West to produce the next Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representatives.
He called on all aggrieved persons to sheath their swords and support the decision of the party under which platform they also won elections.
He said other geo-political zones would benefit from other appointive positions in the incoming government.
He also appealed to the President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu to appoint Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State as the Secretary to Government of the Federation (SGF).
