A chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Niger state, Nma Kolo, has called on the party’s national leadership to zone the House of Representatives speakership to the North Central.
Speaking with journalists in Minna, the stalwart said been APC key stronghold, the North Central should be considered for the position.
The geopolitical zone got the Senate President slot during the 8th Assembly under the APC.
The zone seems to have lost the position to the North East with the party hierarchy favouring Senate Majority Leader, Ahmed Lawan.
Kolo said having somehow lost out the Senate presidency, the House of Representatives speakership should be some sort of compensation for the North Central.
“The North Central as a vital region of Nigerian politics have over the years played very crucial role in successive governments. In fact, the North Central gave a total of 2,465,599 votes to President Muhammed Buhari thereby making it one of the stakeholders in the APC administration.
“North central deserved one of the major political position after all the President is from North west , the Vice President from South West , Senate President given to North east apparently, North central that has been committed zone to APC deserves the Speaker’s position,“ he explained.
