According to the police prosecutor, Israel Nongo, the accused sold the said gearbox to one Ogu Stanley of Apo mechanic village at the rate of N45,000 on August 11.
The prosecutor informed the court that Stanley discovered that the said gearbox was fake after he fixed it in his car, adding that the complainant reported the case at the Apo police station on November 1.  He said the action of the accused amounts to cheating, an offence contrary to Section 322 of the Penal Code.
The accused pleaded not guilty when the charge was read to him while the prosecutor asked for a date for hearing in the case.
The presiding judge, Alhaji Umar Kagarko, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50,000 with a surety in like sum.
The case was adjourned till January 27 for hearing.
