Agbonavbare played for Rayo Vallecano in his active days and they have decided to honour him in death.
Rayo Vallecano’s board of directors after an extraordinary meeting held on Wednesday decided unanimously to keep alive the memory of an ex-player Wilfred in their memories, as they named the Gate 1 Vallecas Stadium, “Gate Wilfred Agbonavbare”.
The club also took the opportunity to thank, on behalf of the family of Willy, the countless signs of affection that have been coming to the club on a sad day for everyone.
The late goalkeeper was buried in Spain with Rayo Vallecano president and other dignitaries in attendance.
Wilfred’s children, Wilson and Wintia arrived Spain Wednesday morning to witness their father’s burial.
