The Chairmen of Judo Associations and coaches in South-West have endorsed a former vice president of the Nigeria Judo Federation, Dr. Musa Oshodi, as their candidate for president of the sport federation in the elections slated for September 30.
At a press briefing in Abeokuta, the chairmen, led by Sheriff Ahmed of Lagos State and representative of coaches, said members of the association in the region have unanimously endorsed Oshodi to contest for the NJF president.
“All the chairmen in South-West states of Ogun, Oyo, Ondo, Lagos and Ogun State have endorsed one of our own, the Chairman of Oyo, Dr. Oshodi, who is vying for the post of the president of Judo federation.
“This is the best time to bring back the lost glory of judo and to reunite the family in the South-West and at the National level.
Responding, Oshodi, who is a medical practitioner, vowed to push for restructuring and re-branding of the sports federation, if elected.
“We need someone that has the knowledge. Someone who has been a player, coach and referee. Someone who knows what is required to manage the federation.
“A Judoka has never been the president of the federation and that is really affecting us. I want to say that if given the opportunity, having realised where the problem lies, I will come up with solutions,” said Oshodi.
