As part of measures to stem the tide of hostilities in Atyap Chiefdom in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State, the chiefdom’s Peace and Security Partnership Committee has called on communities to resist the temptation of waylaying and killing one another.
This is part of the resolutions reached at a meeting of the committee held at the Agwatyap’s Palace, Atak Njei in Zangon Kataf. Groups in the chiefdom including Atyap, Hausa and Fulani were asked to come up with submissions on the way forward regarding the crisis bedeviling the area while the meeting frowned at publications by tribal associations it claimed were aimed at inciting and fueling the crisis.
Earlier in his opening remarks, the Chairman of the Peace and Security Partnership Committee, John Bala Gora regretted that the crisis had led to the loss of lives, wanton destruction of property and general displacement of the people.
Also addressing, the Co-Chairman of Southern Kaduna Joint Peace Committee (SKJPC), Professor Benjamin Kumai Gugong said problems are bound to come up as people coexist but appealed for restraint in handling all grievances.
He advised the people in Atyap Chiefdom to expose criminals perpetrating trouble and also do away with any dichotomy that will not promote peace.
