The meeting tagged, “Governors Forum”, alleged that no definite post-amnesty plan had been put in place in the South-South region.

In a communiqué issued at the end of the meeting, the governors said certain issues they articulated should be discussed if they must support the current amnesty programme.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the meeting was attended by Governors  Liyel Imoke (Cross River); Emmanuel Uduaghan (Delta); Adams Oshiomole (Edo) and Chibuike Amaechi (Rivers).

The communiqué stated that it was necessary for the Federal Government to present a sustainable solution to what the governors called “the injustice visited on the region’’.

The communiqué was read by Gov. Liyel Imoke, the Chairman of the forum.

It also expressed the governors’ forum displeasure to what it called “the anti-oil producing states posture of the Minister of Petroleum, Dr Rilwanu Lukman’’.

The forum noted the reforms in the Petroleum Industry Bill currently under consideration by the National Assembly, saying it was to streamline the legal and regulatory framework for the industry. (NAN)
