Umahi, who spoke when he received the Assistant Inspector General of Police Zone, 9 Umuahia, AIG Ene Okon at the state Government House, Abakiliki blamed the leaders of the nation for playing into the hands of the restive youths.

“We the governors in the South-East agreed in one Nigeria where fairness, justice, equity and fair play must take place.

“And let me say, AIG, the nation (Nigeria) played into the hands of our restive youths who were making agitations.

“And most of the things they were agitating were ignored at the national level. And when they were repeated, our people got the impression they are fighting for the south east, essentially when people from the south-east are due to be promoted at the national level and they are denied rightly or wrongly

“So, the impression they have is that we are not being treated in the projects of the nation,” he explained.

Umahi, however, said that the present insecurity in the zone was given governors of the south a very great concern.

The governor also condemned the killing of security officers and the burning of police stations in the zone.

He however acknowledged the burning of two offices of the Independent National Electoral Commission (lNEC) by unknown hoodlums in the state including his own filling station.

The incidents happened in Ezza North and Ebonyi Local Government Areas of the state.
