I wish to call on the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing, as well as the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency, FERMA, to urgently mobilise with a view to addressing the humanitarian needs of communities devastated by the floods caused by heavy rainfall in Offa, Oro-ago, Erin-Ile of Ifelodun, Offa, Oyun federal constituency.
The heavy downpour which took the communities by storm has led to the destruction of properties and though no life was lost, several farm produce as well as livestock worth millions of naira were washed away by the flood.

It is important that I draw attention to the wanton destruction caused by the flood in these communities. A popular hotel known as Henge Hotel was seriously affected. Some schools, mosques and churches, most of the houses in and around the area, their electronics and other valuable materials were all damaged.
I wish to, therefore, urge relevant agencies to ensure that those affected by the flood are provided with relief materials in order to ameliorate their suffering, and pray that the House will mandate the Committee on Special Duties to take oversight to the affected areas to ascertain the level of destruction, and that another fact-finding committee should be set up to engage various levels of government to forestall future occurrence.
It is important that the House set up an ad-hoc committee to engage the following inter- ministerial departments: Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Ecological Funds Office, Federal Ministry of Works, Housing and Power to look into the perennial flooding throughout the country, and mandate the ad-hoc committee to investigate the remote and immediate causes of the devastating flood at Erin-Ile, offa, Oro-Ago, Oki-Oyo areas in Ifelodun, Offa Oyun Federal constituency and send relief materials to the affected victims.
