The President of Remo Stars Football Club, Kunle Soname has showered cash on the players, coaches and staff of the club for securing the CAF Champions League ticket.
It will be recalled that the Sky-Blue Stars picked the continental ticket following the 1-0 victory against Bendel Insurance at the final match day of the 2022/2023 NPFL Championship Play-offs at the Mobolaji Johnson Onikan, Lagos Arena.
Daniel Ogunmodede’s side went ahead in the 36th minute through academy product, Akanni Qudus after a loose ball in the 18-yard ball fell at his feet, he calmly slotted it beyond the reach of Bendel Insurance goalkeeper.
The Ikenne-based club were able to hold on to the lead going into halftime and upon resumption of the second half, both sides couldn’t convert the chances created as Remo Stars ran out as eventual winner to top the log pending the result between Enyimba and Rivers United.
Remo Stars ended the NPL Super 6 playoffs with nine points after five games as the elated Club owner while hosting the players, coaches and backroom staff Sports at the club’s complex gave N20m cash gift to the players.
He also doled out N5m to the technical crew and medical crew, N1.5m to the supporters’ club and N1.5m to the media team.
Soname further applauded the players and the coaching crew for ending the season in the second position which is the club’s biggest finish in the league.
