The Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON) has reaffirmed its commitment to address counterfeiting and product’s cloning activities of unpatriotic elements in the country as a way of promoting qualitative and standard products especially those manufactured in Nigeria.

This was disclosed by SON’s Director General and Chief Executive Officer, Alhaji Farouk A Salim, when he led SON’s delegations on a courtesy visit to Amasco International Limited in Kano.

He said the proliferation of counterfeit products in circulation across the country has become so alarming and as such his organisation is seeking for utmost cooperation from manufacturers to ensure standard as well as attain a level that would accord products made in Nigeria international acceptability in the global market.

The President of Amasco International Limited, Alhaji Mustapha Ado Mohammad, called on the authorities to as a matter of urgency do something on the current status of foreign exchange rate in the country to save the manufacturing industry from crippling.

He said recently, Nigeria’s forex status has not been favourable to manufacturers in the country adding that, if allowed to continue, a lot of manufactures would be forced out of business.

“It is very important to raise this issue of forex as well as call on the authorities concerned to address it before it gets out of hand,” he said.
