Son stabs mother to death in Niger

A 27-year-old Habibu Bazabarme has stabbed his biological mother to death and inflicted severe injuries on his wife over a misunderstanding.

The suspect, who resides in Kontagora, the headquarters of Kontagora Local Government Area of Niger State, was said to have mistakenly stabbed his mother when she attempted to separate him and his wife during a fight.

The wife (name withheld) was also said to have sustained injuries and taken to the General Hospital, Kontagora, for treatment.

A source confided in our correspondent that the suspect was mentally unstable.

The Niger State Commissioner of Police, Monday Bala Kuryas, confirmed the incident and said investigation had commenced.
