SON partners NSCDC to combat substandard goods, safeguard consumers

The Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) has joined forces with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to tackle the issue of substandard goods and enhance consumer protection in Gombe State.

During a recent working visit to the Gombe State Command of the NSCDC, Muhammed Alhaji Bukar, the Gombe State Coordinator of SON, underscored the significance of building a robust partnership with the corps.

In a statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, SC Buhari Sa’ad, Alhaji Bukar outlined that the purpose of the visit was to establish a collaborative framework with the NSCDC, saying the partnership aims to improve market surveillance, safeguard consumer interests, and monitor the influx of substandard goods in local markets.

Alhaji Bukar praised the NSCDC for its commitment to professional standards and expressed confidence in the Corps’ ability to support SON’s objectives effectively.

Responding to the visit, NSCDC Commandant Muhammad Bello Mu’azu pledged to reinforce and renew the synergy between the two organisations. He assured Alhaji Bukar of the NSCDC’s ongoing support and readiness to provide essential security backup for SON’s initiatives.

Mu’azu expressed his gratitude for the visit and reaffirmed his commitment to the collaborative efforts, emphasising that the NSCDC is always available to support SON in its mission to protect consumers and uphold market standards.
