A 32-year-old man killed his father on Saturday at Zange village in Dukku Local government Area of Gombe State over a farmland.

A source said the son, Haruna Buba, committed the murder following a disagreement he had with his elder brother, while accusing their father of allocating a bigger farmland to the elder brother.

The father, Habu Kuppe, a septuagenarian, was said to have come to intercede in the quarrel between the siblings when Haruna cut him on the head and back with a machete; killing him instantly.

City News learnt that after killing his father, Haruna left for a viewing centre in the village, from where he was arrested by the police.

When contacted, the police spokesman in the state, Mallum Buba, confirmed the incident, saying the suspect would be charged to court after investigation.
