The Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) has awarded a certificate to the National Institute for Pharmaceutical Research and Development (NIPRD) for complying with the international standards of services.
NIPRD was presented with the certificate for conformity to the requirements of NIS ISO 9001:2008 quality management system standard, which is an internationally acceptable standards requirements.
Presenting the certificate to the institute yesterday in Abuja, Acting Director-General of SON, Dr Paul Angya said the research and development the institute offers is extremely important in the area of pharmaceuticals in Nigeria particularly in the face of prevailing health challenges in the country, competitiveness in the cost of production and the quality of drugs , phytomedicines and pharmaceutical raw materials.
He said the ISO approach now provides the institute with robust , globally recognized and acceptable solutions to address quality issues inherent in pharmaceutical research and development.
Director-General of NIPRD, Prof. Karniyus Gamaniel said the award of the certificate to the institute should be a national celebration because it is a celebration of resilience, forthrightness, and commitment to good practice and quality service delivery.
