Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC) at the weekend in Lagos urged the federal government to withdraw soldiers from further performing internal security operations so as to protect the image of the military.
It said the call became necessary following the increasing cases of extortion and intimidation leveled against some soldiers serving in the different security operations across the country.

CISLAC Executive Director, Auwal Ibrahim Musa (Rafsanjani) said recalling them back to barracks would reduce brutality being perpetrated on civilians by the army who, according to him, are sentinel for external aggressions.
He gave the advice at the organisation’s recent stock-taking event themed, “Media close-out on the precariousness of protection: Documenting gains, strains and pains from the protection of civilians and civilian harms mitigation in armed conflict”.
He, therefore, called on President Muhammadu Buhari to withdraw soldiers from the streets and cities of the country.
