Soldiers ‘kill’ 2 attackers in Benue

Soldiers of the Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) early on Thursday reportedly killed two attackers on a boundary location between Benue and Nasarawa States.

Our correspondent gathered that the troops also recovered some dangerous weapons from the attackers who allegedly had on Wednesday evening invaded Tse-Torkula community in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State.

Locals said the attackers injured two people during the invasion on Tse-Torkula before the villagers alerted the soldiers who pursued them to the locations where they (attackers) were killed.

The villagers alleged that the bodies of the attackers killed in the gun duel with the soldiers were sighted in the OPWS vehicle as the troops whisked them away with the recovered weapons.

But the Force Commander of OPWS, Major General Adeyemi Yekini has declined comment on the matter, referring our correspondent to the media operations department of Defence Headquarters in Abuja.

The Benue Command Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) DSP Catherine Anene, however, told our correspondent by phone that she was yet to receive any of such reports.
