Soldiers from the 33 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army (NA), Bauchi, Bauchi State, have handed two suspects, Adamu Ali (32) and Mohammed Idon (42), they arrested with 512 parcels of hemp to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
The Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Emmanuel Egbe, who disclosed this while handing over the suspects, explained that they were arrested on October 23, 2023, at about 8pm in Ringin Gani village along Jos Road in Toro LGA in a branded energy drink pickup with registration number, AKD 654 XT Lagos.
Represented by the acting Garrison Commander, Lt Col Abdulrahman Modibbo, Gen Egbe said, “The items intercepted in the vehicle are four bags, 512 parcels of suspected cannabis sativa and 104 packs of soft drinks used to cover the Indian hemp.
“Other items recovered from the suspects are four phones, five ATM cards, a driver’s licence, two padlocks and N13,550 cash.”

Responding, the Chief Superintendent of Narcotics of NDLEA in Bauchi, Nimfa Joel, who commended the army, assured that the agency would commence an investigation into the matter and prosecute the suspects.
