Soldiers deployed as youths protest over blackout in Ilesa

Soldiers have been deployed to quench a riot and restore normalcy in Ilesa, Osun State as youth protested against the continuous blackout in the community.

The Ilesa town was in confusion as the protest turned violent and the protesters attacked innocent people, including journalists.

The protesters seized the working tools of reporters and damaged their gadgets as they molested the newsmen, who attempted to cover the protest.

Daily Trust learnt that the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDDC) refused to supply electricity to Ilesa community because some youths assaulted some of its staff.

At the time of filing this report, Soldiers have been deployed in Ilesa as the situation seemed to have gone beyond the control of men of the Nigerian Police Force.
