Soldier, courier crushed while rescuing accident victim in Abuja

A truck has crushed two persons and injured four others in Dei-Dei area of Abuja.

City & Crime learnt that one of the deceased was a military man, while the other one was a courier rider.

Our correspondent reports that the victims were making effort to assist an earlier accident victims when the trailer crushed them.

A witness, Sadiq Usman, said the first incident involved a commercial motorcyclist and his passenger.

He said, “The bike man escaped from the accident but his passenger was not so lucky as she fell off the bike.

“The military man who was in a commercial vehicle along with some passengers rushed to rescue the victim. The courier rider also parked his bike to rescue the victim.

“They were in the process of removing the victim when a speedy articulated truck ran over them.’’

Confirming the incident, the Unit Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in charge of Zuba, Elizabeth Benedict, said four other persons, including the motorcyclist’s passenger, sustained injuries.
