The outcome of the 2019 elections into 30 seats of Sokoto state House of Assembly indicated that in the 9th Assembly, the All Progressives Congress has 16 seats while the People’s Democratic Party, PDP has 14.
For existing members of the 8th Assembly in Sokoto, there are 19 PDP members, of whom 10 lost their seats, one did not contest, 8 returned.
The member who did not contest for a seat at the House of Assembly is the Speaker, Salihu Maidaji who represents Gada east constituency.
Instead, he went for the Sokoto East Senatorial contest but lost to the incumbent Senator Ibrahim Gobir of APC.
On the other hand, of the 11 APC members in the 8th Assembly, five lost, and six returned.
