The Sokoto State Government has assured health workers of payment of their entire hazard allowance for the months of April and May 2020.
It also suspended payment of water bill in the state for two months as part of palliative measures to the people. The state also reduced its 2020 budget by 25 percent.
These were outcomes of the State Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal at the Government House.
The Commissioner of Health, Dr. Ali Inname also said besides the hazard allowance, health workers at the frontline would be paid special weekly allowances.
The health workers include those working at isolation centres, border areas and members of the COVID-19 Rapid Response Team.
On his part, the Commissioner of Finance, Abdussamad Dasuki said the state 2020 budget was reduced to N153 billion as against the N202 billion earlier passed into law.
