Worried over the frequent collapse of the national grid with its attendant effect on businesses, the Sokoto State government has approved the sum of N950 million for the completion of the state owned Independent Power Plant.

The 16 years old project had earlier gulped N5.5 billion, but has yet to be completed.

The project was initially awarded in 2008 to an American based energy company, Vulcan Capital Energy at the cost of N3.8 billion with a completion period of six months.
