Sokoto: SDP chairman expelled over alleged N1.1m fraud

The Sokoto state chapter of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) has expelled its chairman, Abubakar Muhammad Sadiq over alleged cheating and abandonment .

Sadiq was also the Governorship candidate of the party in the last election in the state.

The statement also accused the chairman of squandering N1.1 million meant for the 23 selected delegates for their national convention held in Abuja.

“He refused to pay rent for party offices at some local government areas as a result of which the landlords are threatening to take us to court.”

“He cheated some party members by borrowing their money to do some party work which he refused to pay back.”

The statement noted that “in view of the above shortcomings, we are fully convinced that Sadiq have failed to lead this great party successfully and therefore we have resolved to dismiss him from the party and approve the appointment of Alhaji Kyafe as interim chairman while Muhammad Bello Sahabi is the interim Secretary” .

Our reporter could not reach the embattled chairman for his comment as he was not responding to calls nor reply to a text message sent to his phone.
