The Sokoto State Government has awarded a contract for the renovation of the residence of a former President, late Shehu Shagari, which got burnt last year.
The residence, located in the Gobirawa area in Sokoto town, was said to be the private home of the late president until another one was built for him by the late Military Head of State, Sani Abacha.
This was disclosed by the Commissioners for Land and Housing, Information and that of Water Resources, Barrister Nasir Dantsoho, Sambo Bello Danchadi and Yusuf Maccido respectively during a joint briefing on the outcome of the State Executive Council meeting held on Wednesday.

They said the renovation was awarded at the cost of 284m and would be completed in six months.
