Sokoto govt provides free malaria drugs to 1.2m children

The Sokoto State government has provided free Seasonal Malaria Chemo-prevention drugs (SMC) to 1.2 million children.
Director General of the state Malaria Elimination Agency, Muslim Adamu Gobir disclosed this in an interview with Daily Trust.
According to him, each dosage of the drugs cost  the state government N500.
He added that the drugs were being provided with the support of the Malaria Consortium.
“This is part of the measures to eliminate malaria in the state,” he said
He also said that three million mosquito treated nets were distributed in the state.
“In all our hospitals, there are net which are given to pregnant women and new babies that completed their immunization rounds,” he said
Gobir further revealed that 600 health workers had been trained on malaria management.
