The Sokoto state government has allocated N3 billion for the payment of scholarship and registration fees in 2020 budget.

Executive Chairman, Sokoto State Scholarship Board, Alhaji Altine Shehu Kajiji, disclosed this while commenting on the ongoing verification exercise for fresh students from the state at Usman Danfordiyo University, Sokoto.

He explained that the money was for the payment of scholarship, tuition and registration fees of sponsored students studying abroad and across the country.

Kajiji said that the government had so far paid N100 million out of the 290 million indebted to the university.

The chairman frowned at the lackadaisical attitude of some students towards verification, warning that no student would be verified after the seven days grace.
