The Sokoto State government says it has captured over 300,000 vulnerable people for the federal government’s conditional cash transfer programme.
The Special Adviser to Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal on Social Investment, Hayatu Tafida, disclosed this to Daily Trust on Tuesday.

He said the state was still among the least beneficiary states in the country.
“Before the recent exercise, we only had 18,000 beneficiaries from the state while our neighbouring states, who are less in population, had hundreds of thousands of beneficiaries.
“So we made our case known to the relevant authorities which reasoned with us and allowed us to enroll more people into the programme.
“We recruited over 500 ad hoc enumerators who did the work,” he said
Tafida noted that the exercise was conducted devoid of politics as directed by the governor.
“The beneficiaries were captured irrespective of their party affiliation,” he reiterated.
He added that a second phase of the enumeration would soon take place.
