Sokoto Attorney General alleges threat to life

Sokoto state Commissioner of Justice, Suleiman Usman, SAN, has alleged that some suspected hoodlums belonging to an opposition party were threatening his life.

The suspected hoodlums he said were being led by one Abubakar Maragwiwa, the same man that attacked him in 2008 at the Sultan Abubakar III International Airport, Sokoto.

The hoodlums whom he said came to his house and his private chambers, had also unleashed terror on his neighbours.

“They came in two Hilux vehicles on Wednesday evening but fortunately for me, I was not at home. They attempted to drag the watchman into fight which he resisted but they kept hauling insults and chatting ‘in baka Alu Ubanka na Alu’ meaning if you are not with Alu your father is with him,” he said.

He alleged that the hoodlums assaulted three young men at the house of one of his neighbour, Umar Ahmed.

He added that they abused a married woman, Hajiya Larai in one of the neighbourhood and beat one Aminu Kebbe to a state of comma.

He called on the Commissioner of Police and other security agencies to ensure the perpetrators were arrested, investigated and brought to justice.

“We will use all the available legal means to ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice,” he said.

When contacted, the spokesman of the Sokoto Police Command, ASP Muhammad Sadiq, said they would investigate the matter and fish out the perpetrators.
