The Sokoto State Government has approved N63 million for the purchase of 30 tricycles and sanitation tools.
The state’s Commissioner for Environment, Alhaji Bello Sifawa, made the disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Sokoto on Thursday.
Sifawa said the purchase of the items was to enable the ministry to meet its set goals in delivering service to the people.
He said that vehicles had also been procured for mobile courts, adding that the ministry had re-strategised to ensure prompt collection and disposal of waste.
According to him, there is pressing need to keep the state clean at all times.
“It is a known fact that every human activity is associated with waste that is the reason why the ministry is seeing to the collection and disposal of waste to make the environment safe and habitable.’’
Sifawa said that government had since resuscitated monthly sanitation to make the state a showpiece in environmental hygiene. (NAN)
