Nigerians have reacted to statements made by presidential spokesperson, Garba Shehu in an attempt to explain why service chiefs were present at President Muhammadu Buhari’s campaign rally tagged, ‘Next Level’.
Garba Shehu in series of tweets on Monday said the service chiefs mistook the event for a non-political gathering but however left before the event got underway.
According to him:
“They were mistaken in their assumption that this was a non-political event, to showcase the achievements of the administration, the success of which they are a part. Hardly were they seated when the Minister of Defence, Brigadier General Mansur Dan Ali (Rtd) ask them to leave as it was a political gathering. They quickly left, even before the arrival of the President and for the event to get underway. The fuss over this in therefore absolutely unnecessary”.
The explanation has been met with different reactions from Nigerians.
All the service chiefs were at the same time in the mistaken belief that they were attending non-political ceremony, an event serially announced. Dunces.

The service chief who supposed to use intelligence to provide security for the country, cannot be at the right place at the right time.

So the defence minister had to tell them to leave before they know it’s a place that they shouldn’t be seen in?
This is hysterical. ????

Questions to answer sir.
1. Were the service chiefs given IV to the event?
2. What was the content?
3. Who cleared them?
4. Are you saying they couldn’t decipher what was a was a political event from their official function? If so then we are in more trouble than we thought.

Service chiefs were there to give successess on the security challenges facing both APC, pdp and others. So there’s nothing wrong for them to b there bcoz they are all answerable to our president.

You have only portrayed our service chiefs as jobless and incompetent men who came to eat and rink. With the heavy media exposure of the event, yet they strolled in oblivious of the reason for the event. No wonder Boko Haram is having an upper hands.

I thought so too. That was how I entered someone house at Banana Island the other day, thinking I was my Dad’s house at Egbeda. It was the wife of the owner who told me I was in the wrong house. Thanks for the clarification

You mean up to 5 senior officers are not well informed and me that wasn’t invited already knows what the even was for. How can you indirectly insult these officers by telling us how they are not sensitive of anything happening in our environment
